Canine Fitness

This new and unique class focuses on deepening the bond between dog and owner in a positive and fun atmosphere while also helping dogs stay fit, flexible, and strong.
This class will feature activities for dogs to build a strong core, promote better balance, assist in body awareness and proprioception, and teach proper stretching mechanics.
Dogs will learn tricks like backing up, spinning, putting their feet up, push ups, sit ups, and more! All while having a ton of fun and utilizing positive and kind training methods.
Prerequisites/Rules:
Dogs are required to have a current rabies vaccine and it is recommended that they also have current DHLPP booster and bordetella vaccines.
No reactive or aggressive dogs allowed.
Dogs recovering or currently in rehabilitation for any injury are allowed only with veterinary approval.
Dogs with diagnosed arthritis, hip/elbow dysplasia, or other orthopedic conditions are welcome with veterinary approval.
Senior dogs welcome! All exercises will be catered to each individual dog and respectful of their physical limitations.
Puppies welcome! All exercises will be catered to protect growing puppy joints while giving them a fantastic foundation for any adventures they may encounter later in life.
All dogs must be kept on leash at all times unless otherwise directed by instructor. No flexi leashes!
Clean up after your dog! Please make sure all dogs have been aired prior to arrival at class.
Be respectful of space and only allow on leash greetings if both owners agree.

Bring small, soft, training treats (hot dogs, string cheese, or lunch meat make for easy and cheap training treats!) and your dog’s favorite toy. Make sure your dog is hungry and eager to play!
About Emma Tinklenberg:
I have been a certified master dog groomer in Grand Rapids since 2015. I have also been heavily involved in dog sports since 2011, teaching a variety of classes as well as actively training and competing in dog agility, competitive obedience, rally, nose work, dock diving, conformation, and more.
Dogs are my passion, but more importantly I love seeing people get out and have fun with their dogs and grow the relationship between dog and handler. I use positive based methods and lots of rewards to create a fun and enthusiastic approach towards training.

I share my home with my five dogs – Lucy, Macey, Jetpack, Robin, and Basil. When my dogs aren’t training or competing, they are part of the family – anything from hiking to playing tug-of-war to just relaxing on the couch.

The class is Monday nights at 7pm and is $80 per month. First class starts 11/09/2020
