Ray Shonk

Owner / Master Trainer / Tai Chi Master Instructor

When I started my fitness journey, I carried a lot of extra body fat and really didn’t work out at all outside of martial art training. Because of this, I had poor heart health any my cholesterol and triglyceride numbers were out of control. I started working on at home fitness programs and despite my many obstacles with both nutrition and motivation, I got it under control. In this time I managed to drop weight and body fat. In time I changed my goals. I write all my own programs and started focusing on athletic training and calisthenics. Currently I’m the heaviest I have ever been but my body fat is in the low single digits. Once I got my own body under control I decided to help others by becoming a certified trainer opening my own gym Quest Fitness, and publishing my book “The Calisthenics Quest”. I managed to be the first NASM Master trainer and the first calisthenics coach in Michigan.

 

Fun Hobbies: Movies, reading, video games, cooking, painting, crazy calisthenics, martial art training, Beer brewing and wine making.

Personal Trainer

When I started my fitness journey I was at a point in my life where I was experiencing low back pain and searching for answers became interested in functional movement.
I started to feel better after learning more about fitness and trying new movements.
Soon I realized that I want to help others and became a NASM certified Personal Trainer. After that I began my journey into learning about balance training and simple exercise that can help people avoid injuries, and improve performance. While studying balance training I started becoming interested in calisthenics. In 2018 I started working at Quest Fitness as a fitness coach and became certified in progressive calisthenics and corrective exercise.

 

Fun Hobbies: Biking, longboarding, making coffee and street workouts.

Megan Russell

Personal Trainer

My fitness journey started when I was a child. I have been involved with sports as a child into my adult life. When I entered college, I played basketball during this time I learned olympic lifts and proper weight training form. During my off season I took on myself to make myself stronger and in better shape. This is the moment I knew being a Personal Trainer. My friends kept asking to come to the gym with me to work out, and I fell in love with instructing and helping make people stronger physically and mentally. This was when I chose to get my bachelors in Kinesiology: Exercise Science. After graduating from college, I found my passion in assisting in making women stronger and with developing athletes. I write my own programs and research new exercises or ways to improve skills.

 

Fun Hobbies: Working out, hiking, going to the beach, reading, binge watch tv, being with my friends, camping.
