Getting Exercise During Vacation

Getting Exercise During Vacation

During vacation it can be hard to maintain your exercise routine, and for some people exercise is completely neglected. But, it’s not something you have to miss on your big trip. Here are a few ideas to maintain your exercise momentum.

1) If you are going on a trip, check to see if your hotel has a gym. Look for local walking trails, or local parks and playgrounds. Researching these kinds of opportunities could lead you to see parts of the city you would have otherwise missed.

2) Plan to go minimal. Don’t forget that your body is better than the best weights and machines. Don’t become discouraged if you don’t complete your entire workout routine from home– completing something to be proud of is always better than completing nothing. And, don’t be afraid to use your room to workout. There is plenty of room for push-ups, squats, and ab work.

3) Instead of getting a ride to different sites or attractions, try walking. This is a good way to get that exercise in and see and explore the areas around you. Maybe you will find a hidden gem of a tourist attraction.

4) In some cities, instead of walking you can rent bikes or even row boats. This can be a great way to explore and get exercise.

5) Plan and pack. Grab a few compact tools such as bands or portable pull-up bars. It may not be your normal method, but will get the job done. Training outside of your normal method can have benefits, as well.

Again, you are on vacation and you should make sure to have fun, but that doesn’t mean you should have to give up your workouts.
